Encouraging children to dream big, explore boldly and remain curious.

Where learning comes to life.

We’ve built a curriculum centred on creative experiences where children’s individual interests, ideas, culture and abilities are celebrated and valued. We believe in empowering children by giving them choices and opportunities to explore their own ideas and imagination, supporting their journey to independence and creativity. We help them build the foundations to play, explore and learn, supporting each child to reach their full potential.

Continue down this page to learn more about how you can enrol your child at Auburn South Preschool and government guidelines around starting ages for three year olds as well as immunisation requirements.

9 out of 10 Auburn South Preschool families come through previous children attending or recommendation from family and friends.

How do I enrol my child?

Auburn South Preschool is part of the Boroondara Kindergarten Central Registration scheme (KCR). Information about enrolment eligibility, member kindergarten programs and the registration form can be found on the Kindergarten pages and the Member Kindergarten pages at the City of Boroondara website here. The Kindergarten Central Registration team encourage families to express interest in attending kindergarten from birth. This enables you to receive important updates from the Kindergarten Central Registration scheme, including information about when to register, and attending open days.

Families can submit their Expressions of interest– year-round from birth, for Auburn South Preschool through the KCR scheme, managed by the City of Boroondara. Submit your Expression of Interest online by visiting www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/kindergarten

Expression of Interest for our kindergarten can be made by completing the form via the link https://forms.enrolnow.com.au/233508220296958. Please note that date of application is no longer a selection criteria.

Registrations– will occur between 1 May and 30 June to attend in the next year.  If you’ve already expressed interest, you don’t need to do anything further – the Central Registration Scheme will email you a link to Register on 1 May.

When is my child ready for kinder?

The Department of Education (DE) which provides kinder funding, advise that families give consideration to the best timing for their child to begin kindergarten, particularly if they will be younger. Families with children born between January 31 and April 30 need to make an informed decision about the best time to start, and that those conversations should occur with centres before the child starts kindergarten.

This is particularly important to consider for 3 year olds who are unable to attend until the child turns 3 years of age, who may miss some or all of Term 1 depending on their date of birth.

Children can delay entry by starting the following year, but deferrals after the start of the year no longer apply.

Children who are assessed by educating teams as requiring a repeat year of either 3 year old or 4 year old kinder (not both) may be eligible to receive another funded year (3 year olds from 2026). To receive a second year of funding, your child would need to be assessed and identified as having two areas of developmental delay. This often requires specialist involvement. Being too young is not an eligible criteria for a repeat year.

I’ve enrolled my child - now what happens?

Upon successful application to our Preschool you will be invited to the end of year Annual General Meeting (AGM). Here you can collect your Enrolment package which contains important information, orientation session dates and forms that will need to be filled out and returned before kindergarten commences the following year.

An Orientation Day and sessions based on a staggered start timetable will be held at the beginning of the year to familiarise yourself with our Preschool. Here you will have an opportunity to meet the teachers, parents and the children that will be in your child’s group.

The Preschool holds an Open Day every year and we encourage you come along and visit our wonderful centre.

Victorian guidelines for kinder attendance

No jab, no play.

Since 1 January 2016, all parents/guardians seeking to enrol their child at an early childhood service in Victoria must provide evidence that their child is fully immunised for their age OR on a vaccination catch-up program OR unable to be fully immunised for medical reasons.

The ‘No Jab No Play’ legislation applies to all early childhood education and care services in Victoria that provide:

  • long day care | kindergarten | occasional care | family day care.

What do I need to do?

If your child is fully immunised parents will need to provide a copy of your child’s Immunisation History Statement before confirmation of a placement can occur at Auburn South Preschool. You can get copy of your child’s most recent Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) as evidence of your child’s immunisation.

To request an Immunisation History Statement contact the ACIR:
